CATTI杯“韩素音青年翻译奖”竞赛由中国翻译家协会《中国翻译》编辑部主办，是我国翻译界组织时间最长、规模最大、规格最高、影响最广的翻译大赛，被誉为翻译界的“诺贝尔奖”。1989年3月，英籍著名女作家韩素音女士为《中国翻译》提供了一笔赞助基金，《中国翻译》编辑部决定用这笔基金设立“韩素音青年翻译奖”，同年举行“第一届‘韩素音青年翻译奖’竞赛”。这一赛事在海内外广受欢迎和认可，现已发展成一项一年一度的国际性翻译大赛。

 In March 1989, Miss Han Suyin, a well-known British Chinese writer, funded CTJ (Chinese Translators Journal) to create "Han Suyin Award for Young Translators", which is also called a Nobel Prize because of its long history, large scale, and great impact in the Chinese translation industry. So far, it has become an annual international translation competition and has given out awards 27 times as of 2015.
